The Problem:

This was the problem; All that corrosion and rust from the water pump was clogging the Electronic Air Control valve (EACV or IAC). bam-bam from HondaCivicWagon.com called it. He told me three times to check it out... it finally sunk in. =]

She's Running!

SHE"S RUNNING VERY WELLLLL!!

The Electronic Air Control Valve was crusted and clogged with the same funk that was on my water pump. I took the it off, took it apart and cleaned it with brake cleaner. It fired right up and idled perfect after that!

All back together...

She's all back together and somewhat running. Not idling yet, so I am trying to work out a few things...
I thought this bolt hole might be stripped, it guess it still might, but I now know the radiator hose does have a slight leak. So I'm gonna fix that first, then check to see if the t-stat housing continues to leak.

Still No Idle

This is what happens when I start the car... (the shaking toward the end of the clip isn't really as bad as it looks in the video)

She doesn't even try to idle... It will run smooth with my foot on the gas, but no idle.
I've tried adjusting the timing at the distributor, and I tried playing with the idle. No Luck

Slow Going

You can see the HUGE difference in the head surface now that I've got it back from the machine shop. They cleaned, disassembled the rocker arms, milled it down 10\1000, and reassembled it. All for $80. Totally worth it, and much better than having to buy a different head or block that could have the same issues... now I know this head is straight!!

There is no evidence of those scratch marks, and even the pitting area is almost completely gone. This should work out well.

This is moving a little slower than I expected.. actually a lot slower, but I've been super busy with work and Christmas shopping/decorating/ etc.

I actually am returning the valve cover gasket and seals to Checker and going with the Honda OEM ones; thanks to the suggestion of the forums.

I am also sending the valve cover out to get powder coated tomorrow. I think I'm getting it coated red... what do you think?
